If you have had a website for a while, then like any product it might need refreshing or replacing. How do you know when it is time for a change?
When Your Branding Changes
If you have changed your company’s name, product offering or logo then your website should follow suit. A website is the modern equivalent of a sales brochure and if it does not match your image then customers will find it unprofessional.
When It Won’t Work in Web Browsers
Web browsers change all the time, and in the last few years there has been a huge change not just in the browsers people use, but in the devices, they view web content with. If your site is older then it might have features such as Flash that no longer work on modern PCs, or it might look odd when viewed on a mobile phone or tablet - which are quickly becoming the dominant devices for internet browsing.
When Your Competitors Catch Up
When you check out your competitor's websites are they more attractive, better designed, or easier to use than yours? If you keep your eyes open you can keep up with all of the latest features and ideas and make sure you are at the cutting edge.
When Visitor Numbers Drop
If you get “analytics” from your website developer, you might notice your viewing figures dropping. Perhaps they are growing tired of the website and its lack of new content? A good way to get them back is to refresh the site and encourage them to take a trip around the new one.
